1 The father of Ephron, the Hittite who sold Abraham the cave of Machpelah in which to bury Sarah (Gen 23:8; Gen 25:9). 2 A son of Simeon who accompanied Jacob and his family to Egypt (Gen 46:10) and became the head of a family group there (Exod 6:15). This is probably the same person who is elsewhere called Zerah (1Chr 4:24), the ancestor of the family group called the Zerahites who left Egypt with Moses (Num 26:13).
