Zobah

Zoh´buh

or Aram-zobah, one of the independent city-states the Arameans (Syrians) formed at the beginning of the first millennium BCE. Zobah was situated in the Valley of Lebanon, with Hamath to the north and Damascus to the south. (1Sam 14:47) mentions Saul’s victory over Zobah. Later, when David was warring with the Ammonites, Hadadezer ben Rehob, the powerful Aramean king of Zobah, intervened in support of the Ammonites (2Sam 8:5; 1Chr 18:3-9). As a result, David twice defeated Hadadezer and reduced Zobah to the status of subject.
