Zeboiim

Zuh-boi´im

A site in the valley near the Dead Sea noted as marking the eastern border of Canaan together with Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Lasha (Gen 10:19). Ruled by Shemeber, it joined a coalition with neighboring cities (Gen 14:2) opposing invaders from the north (Gen 14:8). Hosea used both Admah and Zeboiim as symbols of utter destruction (Hos 11:8), referring presumably to the legendary destruction of the whole region when Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed together with “those cities and all the Plain” (Gen 19:24-25).
