Uhz´ee-uhl; Heb., “God is strong”

1 The grandson of Levi, son of Kohath, and founder of the Kohathite levitical clan called Uzzielites (Exod 6:18; Exod 6:22; Lev 10:4; Num 3:19; Num 3:30; 1Chr 6:2; 1Chr 6:18; 1Chr 23:12; 1Chr 23:20; 1Chr 24:24; Num 3:27; 1Chr 26:23). David appointed Uzzielites to assist in bringing the Ark to Jerusalem (1Chr 15:10) and to serve among the Levites in the Temple (1Chr 23:12; 1Chr 23:20; 1Chr 24:24). 2 A man of Simeon who settled at Mt. Seir after destroying the Amalekites there (1Chr 4:42). 3 The founder of a Benjaminite family (1Chr 7:7). 4 One of the sons of Heman, a clan of musicians appointed for Temple service by David (1Chr 25:4). 5 A Levite son of Jeduthun who helped cleanse the Temple under Hezekiah (2Chr 29:14). 6 A goldsmith, son of Harhaiah, who helped rebuild the wall of Jerusalem under Nehemiah (Neh 3:8).
