Si´hon
A king of the Amorites whose capital was Heshbon, a city lying east of the northern tip of the Dead Sea. The etymology of his name is obscure, as are the circumstances of his origins. According to the OT Sihon opposed the Israelites as they sought to move from the south through the Transjordan.
