Shear-jashub

Shee´uhr-jay´shuhb; Heb., “a remnant will return”

The eldest of Isaiah’s sons (Isa 7:3). By giving his child this unusual name, Isaiah made Shear-jashub a living symbol of the prophet’s early message concerning the Northern Kingdom (Isa 10:21-22). Only a remnant of it would survive.
