1 The son of Jabesh, who made himself king of Israel by assassinating Zechariah, son of Jeroboam II, and so ending the dynasty of Jehu. He was himself assassinated a month later (2Kgs 15:10-15). 2 The husband of the prophetess Huldah (2Kgs 22:14; 2Chr 34:22). 3 Jehoahaz, the fourth son of King Josiah (1Chr 3:15). He was proclaimed king of Judah after his father had been killed by Neco of Egypt. Three months later Neco made Eliakim (Jehoiakim) king, deporting Shallum to Egypt, where he died (2Kgs 23:30-34), as announced in (Jer 22:10-12). 4 The father of Hanameel, a relative from whom Jeremiah bought family land (Jer 32:6-10). 5 The father of Maaseiah, a Temple official (Jer 35:4). 6 The chief gatekeeper in the Levites’ area of the Temple (1Chr 9:17-18), whose descendants were also gatekeepers (Ezra 2:42; Neh 7:45; 1Esd 5:28).
