Potter’s Field

A tract of land near Jerusalem used to bury strangers. It is identified in (Matt 27:1-10) with the Field of Blood (Akeldama in Acts 1:18-19), a term associated with the money paid to Judas for betraying Jesus. The quotation in Matt 27:9-10) is from (Zech 11:12-13 (cf., however, Jer 18:1-3).
