Pi-day´yuh; Heb., “Yah[weh] has ransomed”

1 The father of Joel, an officer of King David in charge of the western territory of Manasseh (1Chr 27:20). 2 The father of Zebidah, the mother of King Jehoiakim (2Kgs 23:36). 3 The third son of King Jehoiachin (Jeconiah) and father of Zerubbabel and Shimei (1Chr 3:18-19). According to (Hag 1:1, Hag 1:12, Hag 1:14; Hag 2:2, Hag 2:23; Ezra 3:2, Ezra 3:8; Ezra 5:2; and )Neh 12:1, Shealtiel, the brother of Pedaiah, was the father of Zerubbabel. 4 One of the men who assisted Nehemiah in rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem (Neh 3:25). He was a son of Parosh, an important postexilic clan (Ezra 8:3; Neh 7:8). 5 The grandfather of Sallu, a Benjaminite resident of postexilic Jerusalem (Neh 11:7; 1Chr 9:7). 6 A Levite appointed by Nehemiah as treasurer in the storehouse to distribute food to Levites (Neh 13:13). 7 One of the men who stood at the left hand of Ezra during the reading of the Torah in Jerusalem (Neh 8:4).
