light

In the Bible, a symbol of God, godliness, or supernatural illumination. God is the creator of light (Gen 1:3) and wears light as a garment (Ps 104:2). In the OT, the law of God is described as a “light” (Ps 119:105). In the NT, both Christ (John 8:12) and his followers (Matt 5:14) are described as the “light of the world.” They are emissaries of God, who is light (1John 1:5) and who calls people “out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1Pet 2:9). In the book of Revelation, the Lord God is said to be the light of the heavenly city (Rev 22:5).
