Judith, The Book of

A book written during the intertestamental period that tells the tale of how a beautiful and pious widow (named Judith) entices and brutally assassinates Holophernes, the Assyrian general besieging her hometown, Bethulia. For Roman Catholics, Judith is one of the deuterocanonical books, while, for Protestants, it is included among the Apocrypha.
