Hebronites

Hee´bruh-nits

Name of a clan descended from the Levite Kohath (Num 3:27; Num 26:58). The clan was a source of treasury guards (1Chr 26:23) and supervised territory west of the Jordan through Hashabiah (1Chr 26:30) under the clan chief Jerijah (1Chr 26:31). The name is associated with the Judean city of Hebron and its people, nineteen miles southeast of Jerusalem.
