Geba

Gee´buh

A town to the northwest of the Dead Sea given to the Levites from the tribe of Benjamin (Josh 21:17). It guarded the Michmash pass and was the scene of Israelite battles with the Philistines (1Sam 13:3). Geba was later fortified by Asa (1Kgs 15:22) and was repopulated in the postexilic period (after mid-sixth century BCE).
