flagon

A vessel for storing and/or serving liquids. The word appears four times in the OT, in three instances paired with bowls, thus suggesting complete service for food and drink in ritual contexts (Exod 25:29; Exod 37:16; Num 4:7). In (Isa 22:24), flagons are referred to metaphorically for the weight of the responsibility placed on Eliakim as royal vizier to his ancestral house, a house that will perish with his downfall.
