figurines

Small carved or molded figures that function in ornamental or symbolic fashion. The teraphim (Gen 31:19; Gen 31:34; Lev 26:1) are an example. Probably small representations of divinities, they were prized by some as a form of protection in the Greco-Roman world (Acts 19:24) as well as in more ancient Palestine (Jer 10:24).
