Erech

The ancient name of a southern Babylonian city situated near the Euphrates River, now known as Warka. The Table of Nations in Gen 10 includes Erech in the kingdom of Nimrod. Ezra 4:9 mentions Ashurbanipal’s seventh-century deportation of Erech (Uruk) citizens to Samaria.
