En-shemesh

En-shem´ish; Heb., “spring of the sun [god]”

A spring located east of Jerusalem and Bethany. Known as the “Spring of the Apostles” in the first century CE and known today as Ain el-Hod, it is the last spring on the road between Jerusalem and the Jordan Valley. In premonarchical Israel it served as the boundary between Judah and Benjamin (Josh 15:7; Josh 18:17).
