Cyrene

City in Cyrenaica (modern Libya). People from Cyrene were known for their patriotism and their ties to Palestine (Acts 6:9). Simon of Cyrene is said to have carried Jesus’s cross (Mark 15:21). Cyrenian Christians were prominent in Antioch (Acts 11:20; Acts 13:1).
