corban

Kor´ban

The Hebrew word for an offering dedicated to God (Lev 1:2; Num 7:13); it was used of the Nazirites in reference to their lifestyle (Josephus Antiquities 4.73). In (Mark 7:11-13), Jesus criticizes the notion that property declared to be “corban” did not have to be used in support of one’s parents.
