Koh-ni´uh; a shortened form of Jehoiachin, Heb., “Yah[weh] has appointed”

The son of Jehoiakim and grandson of Josiah, who began his reign as king in Judah about 598 BCE (Jer 22:24; Jer 22:28; Jer 37:1). He was the last king of Judah before it fell to Babylon and was deported to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar. He is also called Jeconiah (Jer 24:1; Matt 1:11).
