Chilion

Kil´ee-uhn

The second son born to Elimelech and Naomi, an Ephrathite couple who immigrated to Moab when famine struck the region of Bethlehem (Ruth 1:2; Ruth 4:9). As told in the book of Ruth, Chilion married a Moabite woman, Orpah. Upon his death, his widow returned to her own people, unlike his brother’s widow, Ruth.
