Chebar

Kee´bahr

A watercourse in Babylonia. The Chebar canal was the scene of Ezekiel’s vision and of a Jewish settlement in sixth-century BCE Babylonia (Ezek 1:13; Ezek 3:15; Ezek 3:23; Ezek 10:15; Ezek 10:20; Ezek 10:22; Ezek 43:3). The Jewish settlement of Tel Aviv (Akkadian Til Abubi) was located on this canal (Ezek 3:15), an important irrigation channel near the city of Nippur.
