broad place

A large and level area, usually with a connotation of goodness. Figuratively, it describes the place to which one is brought by God’s deliverance from straits of various kinds (Job 36:16; 2Sam 22:20; Ps 18:19; Ps 31:8), perhaps in reference to the open spaces in cities used for assemblies, with a connotation of restoration to community.
