branch

A growth from the main stem or root of a plant (Gen 19:25; Ezek 16:7; Ps 85:11). “Branch” or “shoot” is used metaphorically in prophecies of redemption to refer to the future glory of the Israelites (Isa 60:21) and, more commonly, to the divinely appointed ruler. God will establish a “righteous Branch” of David whose way will be just (Jer 23:5; Jer 33:15; Ps 132:17).
