Bozrah

Boz´ruh; Heb., “fortress,” “enclosure”

1 The chief city of northern Edom, eight miles south of modern Tafileh. Evidently famous for its strong fortifications, Bozrah symbolizes in the prophetic oracles the whole of Edom (Isa 34:6; Jer 49:13; Jer 49:22; Amos 1:12). 2 A town in Moab (Jer 48:24), perhaps the same as modern Bezer. 3 A city close to the southern frontier of Syria, known today as Busra eski-Sham.
