Bernice

Buhr-nees´

The daughter of Herod Agrippa I and sister of Herod Agrippa II. She was married to Herod of Chalcis, her father’s brother. After his death, in 48 CE, she apparently carried on an incestuous relationship with her brother, with whom she listened to Paul while he was a prisoner in Caesarea (Acts 25:13-26:32). In 64, she married Polomon of Cilicia, but then abandoned him to continue her incestuous affair. When Titus Flavius Vespasianus came to Palestine, she became his mistress and later followed him to Rome, causing a scandal.
