1 The son of Jehoiada, a priest (1Chr 27:5) from Kabzeel (2Sam 23:20) and one of David’s “mighty warriors” (1Chr 27:6) who supervised the Cherethites and Pelethites (2Sam 8:18) and was renowned for his heroic exploits (2Sam 23:20-23). He executed Solomon’s opponents and was appointed chief of the army (1Kgs 1). 2 An Ephraimite commander in David’s army (1Chr 27:14). 3 A priest who participated in the celebration of the Ark’s arrival in Jerusalem during the reign of David (1Chr 15:24; 1Chr 16:6). 4 A levitical musician appointed by David (1Chr 15:20; 1Chr 16:5). 5 The grandfather of Jahaziel, an Asaphite from the time of King Jehoshaphat (2Chr 20:14; perhaps to be identified with one of the preceding). 6 A Simeonite leader who settled in rich pastureland near Gedor in the time of Hezekiah (1Chr 4:36). 7 A levitical Temple official in the time of Hezekiah (2Chr 31:13). 8 The father of Pelatiah, a Jerusalemite leader who died after Ezekiel’s condemnation (Ezek 11:1; Ezek 11:13). 9 The name of several postexilic Israelites who divorced their foreign wives in response to Ezra’s proclamation (Ezra 10:25; Ezra 10:30; Ezra 10:35; Ezra 10:43; 1Esd 9; gives different names).
