bag

A knapsack-like container, usually of leather, for carrying goods and provisions (Jdt 10:5; Jdt 13:10; Jdt 13:15). It is distinguished from a purse (Luke 10:4; Luke 22:35-36) and belt for carrying money (Matt 10:9-10; Mark 6:8). The disciples during Jesus’s ministry were not to carry such a bag of provisions on their mission, but to trust in God’s provision.
