Amaziah

Am´uh-zi´uh; Heb., “Yah[weh] is mighty”

The son of Joash, Amaziah consolidated his power by annihilating his father’s assassins; he waged war successfully against the Edomites, but was defeated by Jehoash, king of Israel (2Kgs 14:8-14). 2 A Simeonite (1Chr 4:34). 3 A Levite of the family of Merari (1Chr 6:45). 4 A priest of Bethel (Amos 7:10; Amos 7:12; Amos 7:14).
