1 Chief of David’s “Thirty,” an elite force or bodyguard (1Chr 12:18), possibly the same person elsewhere called Amasa. 2 A Levite, son of Elkanah (1Chr 6:25) and father of Mahoth (1Chr 6:35), perhaps the same person referred to in (2Chr 29:12). 3 A levitical priest who was a trumpeter (before the Ark) in David’s time (1Chr 15:24).
