Al´ohz

Any plant of the genus Aloe. The aloes mentioned in the Bible are a fragrant wood of either an eaglewood or sandalwood tree used as perfume. In (Ps 45:8 and Song 4:14), it is listed along with other fragrant spices such as myrrh and cassia. Aloes are brought for Jesus’s burial in (John 19:39).
