Uh-him´ay-az
1 The father of Ahinoam, wife of Saul (1Sam 14:50). 2 The son of Zadok the priest. Active during Absalom’s revolt, he was loyal to David and remained in Jerusalem as a secret agent when David fled the city (2Sam 15:27-36; 2Sam 17:15-22). He later was anxious to inform David about the suppression of the revolt, but he did not himself report that Absalom had been killed (2Sam 18:19-32). He may have been King Solomon’s son-in-law, married to Basemath, Solomon’s daughter (1Kgs 4:15), and stationed in Naphtali as the king’s administrator. 3 Name for which an abbreviation, Maaz, occurs in (1Chr 2:27).
