Adoniram

Ad´uh-ni´ruhm; Heb., “my lord is exalted”

An official in the service of King Solomon who supervised the conscripted labor force in the construction of the Temple (1Kgs 5:13-14). He is probably the same person who served a similar role later under King Rehoboam and was stoned to death when he attempted to enforce the latter’s harsh policies (1Kgs 12:18). He may be the same official elsewhere called Adoram (2Sam 20:24).
