A hill country village assigned to the tribe of Judah (Josh 15:48) and allocated to levitical descendants of Aaron (Josh 21:14; 1Chr 6:57). Residents received part of the war spoils from David after his victory over the Amalekites at Ziklag (1Sam 30:27).
