Ituraea

It´yoor-ee´uh

An area northeast of the Sea of Galilee. Mentioned only once in the Bible as being, together with Trachonitis, the territory ruled over by Philip, son of Herod the Great and brother of Herod Antipas (Luke 3:1), Ituraea was the region occupied by the tribe descended from Jetur, son of Ishmael (Gen 25:13-16; 1Chr 1:31).
