Ish´tahr
A goddess in the Akkadian pantheon. Ishtar was widely worshiped in Mesopotamia from earliest times until at least the first century BCE. She is related to other Semitic goddesses, including Astarte. In the Akkadian language, “Ishtar” came to mean “goddess” and could be used as a common noun.
