I-oh´tuh

Ninth (and smallest) letter in the Greek alphabet, frequently equivalent to the English letter i. It appears in (Matt 5:18) (Greek text) as a symbol of a very minor change in the law. The NRSV translates it “letter,” but footnotes it as “Gk. one iota.”
