In´dee-uh

The subcontinent lying east of Africa and south of Asia. It is mentioned in the phrase “from India to Ethiopia” in (Esth 1:1 and Esth 8:9) as the eastern boundary of the Persian Empire under Ahasuerus (ca. fifth century BCE). India is not otherwise attested in the biblical record.
