Arimathea

Air´uh-muh-thee´uh

Home of Joseph, who buried Jesus in his own tomb (Matt 27:57-60; Mark 15:42-46; Luke 23:50-53; John 19:38-42). Arimathea is variously identified with modern Rentis (fifteen miles east of Jaffa), er-Ram (five miles north of Jerusalem), or el-Birah-Ramallah (eight miles north of Jerusalem).
